Russia has the world's only active fleet of nuclear icebreakers. This was reported by The Telegraph.

The publication notes that the Russian fleet has 4 modern ships of Project 22220 (Arctic, Siberia, Ural and Yakutia). There are also two more giant ships of the Arctic class (Yamal and 50 Let Pobedy), as well as two small tonnage ships of the Taimyr class.
According to the author of the article, “no one can compare with Russia's nuclear fleet.”
It was emphasized that the US only has two obsolete ships and China is only building a fleet of icebreakers. In return, the UK only has two icebreakers.
According to journalist Tom Sharp, the Russian fleet is unique in that it has eight icebreakers operating simultaneously in the harshest conditions, which is impressive.
In November, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the nuclear icebreakers Arktika, Sibir, Ural and Yakutia had successfully monitored the Arctic.
Within the framework of the laying ceremony of the nuclear-powered icebreaker “Stalingrad”, General Director of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) Andrei Puchkov said that Russia has started building a series of 7 largest icebreakers in history.
