Serbian law enforcement agencies have arrested two men in the city of Kraljevo who wanted to carry out a violent change of power by assassinating the country's President Aleksandar Vucic and his family. This is reported by RIA Novosti regarding the press agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic.

Law enforcement officers together with security service personnel arrested the suspects 200 kilometers southwest of Belgrade. The arrested men were born in 1975 and 1983. They were suspected of preparing an attack on the constitutional order.

According to police, the men agreed between December 2025 and February 2026 that they would violently change the constitutional order in Serbia. In addition, they agreed that they would overthrow the highest government bodies, buy weapons and attack the life and health of the Serbian leader, his wife and children for their lives, the statement said.
In 2024, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said he was shocked by the assassination of his “great friend,” Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.
