Not all the bears of the Kamchatka Territory living in the protected areas of the peninsula have not yet reached their dens, where they must hibernate. Warm weather, the presence of spawning salmon and other food do not allow the most gluttonous animals to fall asleep, report Kronotsky Nature Reserve website.

Reserve personnel remind that December 13 is Russia's Bear Day. It is thought that at this time, all clubfoot species will return to their winter dens. At the Kronotsky Nature Reserve, as well as the South Kamchatka Nature Reserve, some already well-fed bears are still feeding. This is due to the warm weather formed by the occurrence of cyclones in the area, as well as the continuous spawning of salmon. There are also other foods. All this, according to scientists, prevents animals from falling asleep.
Scientists estimate that 90% of the bears in Kamchatka sleep. Accordingly, 10% still gain fat before hibernation.
