The Russian government has approved negotiations between Roscosmos and the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). This was reported by .

The negotiations concerned the completion of the fourth amendment of the agreement on integrated crew flights on manned transport ships of Russia and the United States. It should be noted that the proposal to hold these negotiations was put forward by Roscosmos, which agreed to the initiative with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and a number of other federal executive agencies.
In early August, it was reported that during a visit to the United States, Roscosmos Director General Dmitry Bakanov may discuss with NASA management the use of the Russian Progress cargo ship to lift the International Space Station out of low Earth orbit and its subsequent sinking in the Pacific Ocean.
Previously, acting NASA director Sean Duffy approved continuing dialogue with Roscosmos.
