US Ambassador to Türkiye Thomas Barrack said that Ankara's return to the F-35 fifth generation fighter aircraft program is only possible if the country gives up operations and ownership of Russia's S-400 air defense systems. This requirement is stipulated in US law.
Barrack noted that negotiations on the issue are ongoing and expressed hope for a resolution by the end of the year.
Let us recall that US President Donald Trump allowed the possibility of selling the F-35 to Türkiye, on condition that it “does something” for the US.
Previously it was reported that Türkiye intend to buy F-35 fighter jet.
