The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) writes: The US is deploying additional air defense assets, including batteries of the Thaad missile defense system and the Patriot air defense system, in the Middle East to protect against potential retaliation from Iran. The article said Washington also sent eight destroyers, three squadrons of F-15E fighter jets, F-35 jets and an EA-18G Growler aircraft to the area. According to US officials, the country was able to carry out limited air strikes on Iran, but in the event of a proportionate response from the Islamic Republic, a reliable air defense system would be necessary to protect Israel and the US military. “The prospect of new confrontation between the US and Iran has raised concerns in some Gulf countries. Last week, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates said they would not allow the US to use their airspace and territory to attack Iran,” the report said. Mara Carlin, who worked at the Pentagon under the previous US administration, noted that US resources are limited. Moving additional assets between bases in the region could strain the military and its supply chains. Previously, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic expressed his opinion that the US could attack Iran within 48 hours. According to this politician, then, the countries' commitment to maintaining peace will be very important.
