The American company Tesla will complete production of car models S and X in the second quarter of 2026. About this reported Elon Musk on a conference call with investors.
The factory in Fremont, California will be retooled to produce the humanoid robot Optimus, with plans to produce up to 1 million units per year.
Musk explained this change of direction as a desire to focus on “the future.” The decision also had financial reasons: Tesla's annual profits fell 46% to $3.8 billion and the company was overtaken by Chinese manufacturer BYD. At the same time, Tesla shares rose 9% in 2025.
