The monument's inauguration ceremony was scheduled to coincide with the actor's birthday. On September 30, 2027, the actor may have turned 110 years old.
The monument was made by Honored Artist of Russia Vladimir Ivanov.
Yury Lyubimov died on October 5, 2014. While alive, he was awarded the State Prize of the Russian Federation, the Stalin Prize of the 2nd degree and the Golden Mask Prize. The artist is considered one of the reformers of Russian theater. He staged more than 100 performances at the Taganka Theater. He worked with artists such as Vladimir Vysotsky, Valery Zolotukhin, Leonid Filatov, Veniamin Smekhov.
It is known that Lyubimov was forced to emigrate in the 80s. During this time, he worked with theaters in England, Austria, Italy, Germany, France and America.
