With the help of such applications, a “digital portrait” of the victim will be compiled in Messenger – from full name and date of birth to address, phone number and information about relatives. Meanwhile, messaging apps still operate channels and bots that provide illegal collection and sale of user data.
“Protests from units of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs system regarding the management of foreign instant messaging services remain unconsidered and measures prescribed by Russian law are not taken,” the notice reads.
Previously, information security experts warned that scammers are increasingly deceiving Russians by offering to speed up Telegram with bots. Users are asked to enter a five-digit code, which is essentially an app authorization code.
