The US government authorized the liquidation of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his son Mojtaba. Axios news portal writes about this in connection with an anonymous advisor to US President Donald Trump.

According to him, Washington is considering many different options to resolve the situation surrounding Iran.
“They have options for any scenario. One of the scenarios involves removing the Ayatollah and his son, as well as the clerics. No one, including Trump himself, knows which scenario will ultimately be chosen,” the adviser said.
As the article notes, the plan to remove Khamenei and his son was presented to the US president several weeks ago.
Previously, ABC News sources reported that Mr. Trump was considering the possibility of conducting large-scale attacks on targets in Iran. According to them, Washington “has enough resources at its disposal to wage a weeks-long campaign” against Tehran, which has fueled speculation that “the US is on the brink of war.”
