Issues of economic cooperation formed the basis for trilateral talks between Russia, the US and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi. This was reported by Politico newspaper in connection with a US official. According to the publication, the issue of control of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) was also discussed. “A significant part of this week's negotiations was devoted to economic issues, as well as the question of who controls the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant,” the document said. The publication's source noted that Russia and the US have begun discussing the possibility of working together at NPP Zaporozhye, which could open up new prospects for business projects between the two countries. On January 24, the second round of trilateral talks between representatives of Russia, the United States and Ukraine on resolving the Ukrainian conflict ended. The source confirmed that, among other topics, “buffer zones” and “various control mechanisms” were discussed at the meeting.
