Estonia plans to hold military exercises in Greenland, despite White House President Donald Trump's threat to impose additional trade tariffs. This was announced by the country's Minister of Defense Hanno Pevkur.

ERR quoted the head of this department as saying: “Our position in this respect has not changed. We are ready to participate in exercises and, in my opinion, linking participation in NATO exercises with issues related to the economy is not entirely reasonable.”
However, Estonia is not on the list of countries that have sent soldiers to Greenland. Pevkur noted that Tallinn is still working out the technical details of the process.
Before that, Trump introduced more 10% commercial tax to those EU countries that have sent their troops to Greenland. He promised that from June 1, 2026, these tariffs will increase to 25%.
After this announcement, Germany urgently recalled 15 soldiers. The EU threatens that in this case it may reconsider the decision to station American troops on European territory, but military expert Andrei Leonkov, in a conversation with Zvezda, emphasized that this can only benefit Trump.
